With community unity amongst bloggers in the anime blogosphere in mind, the Anime Blog Awards was created in order to bridge that gap by recognizing worthy bloggers and their achievements in various fields ranging from episodic blogs to editorial blogs to blogs that make you laugh the best. Nominations will be until April 22nd with voting going from April 25th to June 1st. Anyone with an anime-centric blog created prior to February 1st, 2008 and a single post made in March 2008 are allowed to nominate, and nomnated blogs must have a minimum of five posts, one of which must be made between March 1st, 2008 to April 1st, 2008.

I’m not sure how effective these awards will be, for history has shown this kind of thing will more or less turn into a popularity vote, ultimately putting blogs and bloggers alike against each other for the spotlight. I’m sure we’re all well aware of which blogs are well known, and the last thing we need is drama to take away from the goal of the awards, for enough has been starting with ABC, which I just recently heard of. If I were to be honest, the ‘new blog spotlight’-esque post that THAT Anime Blog used to do (or is still doing, I haven’t been to the blog in a while) was much more effective in bringing to light anime blogs that weren’t so well known. I hope Impz and the team at THAT will continue that trend.

AnimeBlogger.net has always been supportive of new writers all over the world to establish their blog for free. As we continue to expand and include new bloggers to the anime blogosphere, we have reached a point where advertising dollars are not enough to pay for the hosting services.

Hence, we have decided to appeal for donations to cover the taxes and hosting fees of AnimeBlogger.net. The first goal is to raise US$1600 to cover three months of hosting and the taxes applicable to AnimeBlogger.net. When we have secured that amount, we are looking into adding another server in order to accommodate more writers, which is where the second goal comes in. If we reach our second goal of US$2200, we’ll be able to add another server.

If you are wondering how you can donate to us, there are various ways. First, you can directly donate to the site via Amazon or Paypal from our donations page. Second, you can buy AnimeBlogger.net merchandise. As an incentive to those who donate, everyone who donates more than $5 will be entered to win a prize. Yeah…it’s me. Again. Honestly, I don’t know whether I’m coming or going anymore. My brain, this poor blog, and all y’all trying to follow me must feel like that rope going back and forth between Kiba and Akamaru right now -__- After I stopped this and moved to wakaranai, it seemed okay. Then I lagged there, too. And then that site closed. Which was actually fine by me, since it gave me a valid excuse not to post xD But then the ol’ blog bug bit me (in the form of the new Live Action series’ that started this month), and I felt the need to blog once more. Where the revival of BD comes in. (So much for indefinite, eh.)
