Butterfly Dreams

Wow, I haven’t watched this series in over a month, but I’m gonna try my darnest to finish the series before I start any Spring Season ones. In any case, the wedding of Addie and Honami was what greeted me upon my return. Kissing Itsuki all those weeks ago made her go lesbo xD But really, I didn’t get what Itsuki was so bothered about. At first I thought it was because he was jealous or disappointed that he wasn’t asked to marry Addie, but as the episode went on I found he was truly really adamently against their marriage, and I don’t understand why. Is it because marriage is a special occasion to him, whether it’s “just as mages” or not? Or is it because he knew it wasn’t something either of them wanted? Maybe both? It’ll forever remain a mystery to me.

We learn a lot about Mikan during this two-episode arc. I don’t get where she sees herself as a substitute, though, for her grandmother not only sees her magical powers as weak, but also wants to use her as a sacrifice because of it. Neither really suggests she’s anyone’s substitute, though I might still be missing something in her past. It’s either that for Mikan’s got the word substitude defined alittle differently in her mind. I think they were trying to make her grandmother a bit of a nice person by thinking she was doing Mikan a favour by using her as a sacrifice, for if she lived through it she’d be striped of what little magic she has and thus she could live a happy life not being a burden to anyone, but it just made her more bitchy to me.

Despite the fact that Addie managed to steal Itsuki’s  first probable kiss, I don’t see her winning the battle over Itsuki in the long run. I see Honami winning that one…man, I really need to stop favouring childhood friend relationships xD; Although I say that, I’m not a big fan of Itsuki and Honami, nor Itsuki and Addie. I actually like Kuroha with Itsuki, and she has the least chance with him. But Itsuki sacrificed himself to save Honami, and Honami struggled through school to become a mage to protect him, so it’s a story I find sweet.
