Gundam 00 - Episode 23

Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon! Lockon!

Yes, that was all 32 times Haro said Lockon’s name. I freakin’ counted. That entire scene was the single most hauntingly beautiful thing I may have ever seen in my entire life. Err, whether that was a sad confession or not, it was amazing. Needless to say, I cried (they just had to play ‘Friends’ afterward). Did I say Lockon made a fast recovery last entry? Well, it went straight out the window this episode, a mere two episodes later from death tease presented to us in Episode 21. Now, the irrational part of me just wants to say it’s another tease and Lockon will be sporting a new eye patch next week, but I think he’s gonna be gone, at least until after the long mid-series break. One (major) reason is my huge liking of Lockon, but there are also a couple more.

Remember Mwu, from SEED? Supposedly died at the end of SEED but returns in Destiny against all odds and plotholes of his death? (I mean, really, his freaking helmet was floating out in space. No effing way the Earth Forces picked him up alive before that.) If Mwu, who was no where near a major character as Lockon was, managed to survive, surely Lockon must return, too? Perhaps even as the bad guy, for other than contenders Alejandro and Ali (if he’s still alive), Gundam 00 has yet to have a main baddy. Why not add another? Lockon mentioned he hated the way the world was now, with a little too much hatred.

The other is the fact that Lockon on was a major character. Since when has major characters ever been killed in a Gundam series, or in any series for that matter? It’d be nice to see one go down for the count, and while I’m saddened it might be Lockon (why did it have to be him?), it’d just ruin everything (and make me angrier) if they brought him back needlessly.

Where does this leave everyone and everything? My Lockon x Setsuna x Tieria x Feldt square became a triangle xD Sorry, I just had to. There were way too many hints between the three of them and Lockon. Is it a coincidence that only the three of them cried? I think not. It tends to be inescapable when you’re surrounded by more males than females. Tieria’s “It’s my turn to protect him” honestly made me ‘awww’, and going by the preview, will blame Setsuna for Lockon’s death, probably due to the fact that it was he who told the sharpshooter about Ali in the first place, which ultimately led to his death due to him wanting to extract revenge. That, and I believe it will also be Tieria’s frustration that he couldn’t protect Lockon like he wanted to, just as Setsuna failed to save him despite being so close.

This also brings back to the forefront Lockon’s twin brother(who wasn’t in the flashback??) and the small possibility that he will take over Lockon’s GN Drive and pilot a new Gundam, or the remake of Dynames. I can just see the surprise looks on all their faces when the twin pops up. “OMFG, you didn’t die!” xD Yeah, that’ll screw everyone up. It’s a shame we couldn’t see Dynames use the Trans-Am System. I’m surprised Lockon didn’t activiate it during his showdown against Ali.

Lockon’s death is one of many that have been occuring of late. Daryl died trying to extract revenge for Howard, Ali’s possible death due to Lockon’s final shot, the Trinity brother’s and Aeolia(?) last week… It didn’t appear like Setsuna dealt with Nena in any way, so she’s out in the world a free agent and an emotional wreck. She might crawl her way into CB and might possibly take over Lockon’s position (which she will never live up to if that goes down). Other things this episode that confused me was the fact that the Throne unit was able to be fixed. How the hell can they have spare parts for a Gundam?

Looks like Alejandro will start to make a move next episode.

I also cried. It was beautifully executed with the Haro repeating ‘Lockon, Lockon’, the music, the expression on Lockon’s face, and his little speech. Too. freakin’. sad.

Lockon was also my favorite character, and I’m just about heartbroken that he’s gone. But, at the same time, it would really suck if he was brought back to life Mwu style. And, is the FMA director we’re talking about. I highly doubt he’d do something like that.

Yeah, there’s been a hell of a lot of characters dying in the past 2-3 episodes. Add Kinue to that that list, you’ve got yourself a pretty depressing three weeks.

I totally did not get the magic throne repair thing. ‘Oh yes, we’ll just conjure up some spare gundam parts! No problem at all!’.

If it turns out Ali is still alive, I’ll just scream. Although, I do think this is a very real possibility, seeing as there was no ‘confirmation’ of sorts.

I’ve got a bad feeling that all the other Meisters except for Setsuna are going to end up dying…

Yeah, Lockon’s death was inevitable when he said goodbye to Haro and left. Those two are never apart. Mou, why did it have to be him? T__T We can only hope they won’t ruin his death and bring him back.

Oh, snap, I forgot about Kinue xDD Probably because we didn’t see emo Saji-Shinn this episode. Really, a lot of people have been dying.

Plot hole, plot hole, no way they can have Gundam parts! No way they can have Gundam parts xD -has been listening to Haro for far too long-

As if Setsuna doesn’t have enough reason to hate Ali, if he’s still alive Sestuna won’t stop till he’s dead. But I agree, there’s a good chance he’s still alive.

Mm, I’ve been hearing that everyone else but Setsuna might die. That’d be an interesting by sad thing to see.

Just for teh record, with Muw, SUNRISE use a dirty trick. In the compilation of Gundam SEED (those three movies they did) on the last one, Muw’s helmet wasn’t there, WASN’T THERE. How could they do that? Obviously everyone saw episode 49 of SEED, saw Muw’s helmet on space. Come on, let Lockon stay dead for once.

They did the same with Aoi on Mai otome. She JUMP fro ma cliff to save mashiro, from a CLIFF, and then she was alive… bullshit.

    For Lockon, RIP
